Ms. Buford established Buford Law in 2001 to provide innovative legal services, superior personal attention and exceptional guidance to corporate and municipal organizations in Chicago. Enhancing clients’ reputations and improving their results has been the mission of Buford Law from the start.

Ms. Buford is a graduate of Northwestern University and Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology, where she earned a Juris Doctor degree in 1986. She was admitted to the Illinois Bar that same year. For more than 10 years, she was a partner with Jones, Ware and Grenard, one of the oldest and largest minority-owned firms in the nation.

Ms. Buford is currently a Commissioner on the Illinois Court of Claims, which hears and adjudicates claims against the state. She is also a Chair-Qualified Arbitrator with the Circuit Court of Cook County and a Hearing Officer for the Illinois Department of Human Services. Her appointments include:
• Federal Foreclosure Commissioner
• Special Assistant Attorney General
• Special Assistant Corporation Counsel
She is a member of the National Bar Association, where she serves as Vice Chair of the Commercial Law Section, the Cook County Bar Association, the nation’s oldest and largest association of African-American attorneys, of which she is a past president, and the Federal Bar Association, where she serves as a board member. She is admitted to practice before all of the following courts:
• United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois
• United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois
• The Federal Trial Bar
• United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit
• Supreme Court of the United States
Prior to joining the bar, Ms. Buford led an investigative unit for the Department of Professional Regulation for the State of Illinois, where she honed her investigative skills and directed a staff of professional investigators.
